Price adjustments 2024

Dear friends,

I would like to inform you about the adjusted prices for 2024 and explain some details to you.

Situation/Price development

2023 was characterized by a high inflation rate (Ø 18% in Hungary) and thus a massive increase in costs, especially in the areas of energy, disposal and purchasing of goods. Despite the sluggish start of the season (due to an unusually heavy amount of rain until June) we were able to almost reach our sales target, but due to the high costs there was less profit left at the end of the season than in the previous year. In addition we only adjusted our prices slightly (≈5%) in 2023 and were subsequently burdened with higher taxes and social security contributions. I do not assume that there will be any relief for companies in 2024. In contrast we expect costs to continue to rise, an example of this is the increase in the minimum wage that is already in effect in Hungary. All in all, we are forced to make a major price adjustment for 2024.

BUT: We are far away from the prices compared to the rest of Europe and it is still inexpensive to spend your holidays here.

Pitches for tents, caravans and RVs, additional costs

We had to increase the prices for pitches significantly this time, but we are nevertheless at a good level compared to our competitors. We had already adjusted the electricity costs in 2023, so there will only be a slight increase.

BUT: The previous discounts will remain in place (especially for our regular guests) and this will partially compensate the price increase. In addition, I am already thinking about targeted special offers to make the stay even more attractive for a small budget.

Accommodations (glamping tents/ log cabin)

We have decided to completely revise the pricing for the accommodations. Until now we have charged a flat rate per accommodation regardless of the number of people. In view of the increased general costs, this does not really make sense. Although our investment costs remain unchanged, one person paying the same price per accommodation as 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6 people is neither fair to the guests nor sensible in terms of costs. More people simply mean more effort and a higher consumption of resources. From the start of this season, we will be charging a flat rate per accommodation that only includes one person and each additional person will be charged extra.

BUT: In order to keep things fair, we have only adjusted the flat rate prices for the accommodation very slightly. This means that guests staying with 2 people will pay approximately the same price as last year, but guests travelling with more people will unfortunately have to pay a little more. Here too, the previous discounts remain valid.

Tourist tax/Tourism development tax

The tourist tax is set by the local municipal government and charged directly to our guests. This was already increased in 2023 but unfortunately, they failed to inform us about it, which led to a significant additional payment without the possibility of passing it on to our guests. The tourist tax was increased from 200 HUF (0.52€) to 300 HUF (0.78€) per night.

The tourism development levy is set by the state tourism authority (NTAK) and according to information available so far remains at the previous year’s level. However we are forced to use new and paid software systems which in turn leads to higher expenses.

BUT: The tourism development tax and associated costs are not passed on directly to our guests, they are already calculated in the prices.

Büfe

As things currently stand, the prices for food and drinks have remained at the same level as last year. This means that we will most likely not have to increase prices in this area.

BUT: At the moment I don’t know if anyone will be available to serve in the buffet this season. It may be possible to limit the service on the terrace and you may have to get your drinks and food yourself more often.

Dogs/Pets

We are proud that we are very animal friendly and donate a contribution to local animal protection organizations every year. Dogs, cats or other pets hardly consume any additional resources and therefore charging a fee for staying on our campsite is not really animal friendly in my opinion. For this reason, we no longer charge a fee for pets. Nevertheless, the rules regarding the maximum number of pets per pitch, the obligation to keep them on a lead, droppings, etc. must be observed.

BUT: We ask guests who bring their pets to diligently feed our donation box in the Büfé, the amount of which contributes to our donation every year.

Final word

I am sorry if this article has become a little long and detailed. It is important to me that our guests understand why the price adjustments are necessary. We would like to run the campsite for a few more years and simply have to ensure our economic survival. And once again: Hungary is and will remain a beautiful and cheap holiday destination!

Guests who have already reserved for 2024 and would like to know what effect the price adjustment will have on their booking can send me an email at any time and I will reply promptly.

I am looking forward to the coming season and hope that you will continue to spend wonderful days at our campsite.
